Structural Mitigation

This video documents the structural mitigation aspects of Disaster Risk Reduction program in Konkan region of Maharashtra state. It documents three projects in two villages. In Chorawne, the villagers have constructed a well that will ensure a year-round supply of clean water and a drainage canal that will help safeguard the village's homes against flood water. In Tiwre village, the villagers used earth-moving equipment to remove silt deposits and boulders. This desilting has decreased the risk that the river will flood during the coming monsoon season.
